The Fall 2020 Renewable Energy Industry Event Guide
Since mid-March, when coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) related restrictions swept through the country, industry events and trade shows of all kinds were cancelled as a matter of course.
But after the first few “high alert” months, some organizations in the renewable energy sector pushed to change that. They pushed … but the virus pushed back.
One prime example:
North American Smart Energy Week (NASEW) was going to feature a “hybrid” model for 2020: partially on-site (with limited attendees) and partially virtual. But last month, SEIA and SEPA called an audible and decided to go completely virtual.

“Although I am saddened that we will not be able to host the industry face-to-face this year,” said Stephen Miner, President & CEO of Solar Energy Trade Shows, “our top priority is always the health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees, staff, partners, and stakeholders.”
We are now slated to have virtual events for the foreseeable future. Industry organizations — including SEIA, SEPA, and a host of others — are moving forward with revised schedules and even thought leadership content to fill the void.
For example, #NASEW2020 will feature Virtual Education Microconferences, to “bring premier education from across the renewable energy industry straight to [attendees].” Topics covered will range from regulatory innovation and policy drivers, to new financing options for solar arrays, to smart ways to deploy energy storage.
In the absence of face-to-face events, the renewable energy industry will offer a wealth of virtual gatherings & educational opportunities this fall.
Of course, in-person networking will be missed across all events, but at least we can still get together virtually to push our industry forward. Let’s take a look at some of the leading events this fall.
